South Ribble Pet
Cat Club was formed in September 1994 and was set up initially to inform
about and assist in the exhibition of non-pedigree cats at cat shows.
Whilst being basically a “show” club we are also keen to promote the
general interest and welfare of the “moggie”, whether a show cat or
not, and to encourage responsible and loving cat ownership. We always try
to be available to offer help and advice on any aspect of cat ownership
and care. As
well as the Club and show side, we began with a welfare fund to assist
local people on a low income/State Benefit with vet fees. This grew
rapidly and in October 1995 our SRPCC Cat
Welfare Trust became Registered Charity Number 1049984. We
try to send out at least two newsletters a year, in which we keep members
informed as to our fund-raising and welfare activities and we also print
any contributions that members themselves wish to make. We also have a
members’ weekend at the Supreme Cat Show every November which is now
eagerly awaited by many of our members! We
operate two “incentive and achievement” schemes for members only.
These are the annual Points Trophy, a stunning shield awarded to the cat
gaining the most points (won by placings in Open Classes at shows) in a
year and our “Purrsonality Awards” which are ongoing and again based
on Open Class placings. Unlike the Points Trophy, which is an annual
award, the Purrsonality Awards comprise a gradual climb from Stage 1 to
Gold and can take several years to achieve. Whilst
we are based in Bamber Bridge, near Preston, our members are drawn from a
wide area, including Lancashire, Merseyside, Manchester, Yorkshire and
even as far afield as Scotland, Gloucestershire, Lincolnshire,
Worcestershire and Southampton! Neither location nor lack of cat
ownership is a bar to membership – all we ask is that you do have a
genuine love of cats!! If
you would like to join our happy and successful (our members’ cats are
regularly to be found among the top winners at many shows) band please
print off and complete the form by clicking the link below (you will need
Adobe Acrobat reader which is an easy free download if you do not already
have it) and send it, with your fees, to the address shown on the form. We
hope to be able to welcome you to SRPCC soon! |
